MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE

Now in its eleventh year, Discovering Music has touched the lives of more than 40,000 students in 20 schools.  This year we will have the opportunity to introduce thousands of children to classical music, orchestral instruments and the magic of the orchestra.

"Discovering Music" is a two year program that is offered in schools that do not have a music program. The impact on the children has been a powerful one.

Recently, we expanded the program to include a chance for children to take a more active, participatory role in the musical experience by launching Children's Choirs in four neighborhoods.

The Choirs let students take their newlound knowledge to a performance level so that they can make music as well as enjoy it. These young voices then enliven schools and communities as the children perform for peers, family and friends.

The choirs make the discipline, demands and joy of music a personal challenge for the students while offering a creative and joyful group forum for exploring the interaction and interdependency of choral performance.

We  have also launched a String Program to allow children to learn to play the instruments themselves.
