Santa Cecilia Orchestra, renowned for its Discovering Music program in public schools and for world class orchestra concerts, is proud to present Free Violin Classes for Ages 6 - 12


Location:
Santa Cecilia Arts & Learning Center, conveniently located in Eagle Rock in beautiful buildings in a secure gated facility with a garden courtyard.

Are you ready to embark on a musical journey this summer? Join us for engaging and fun-filled Violin Classes where young musicians will learn the basics of violin playing and music fundamentals!

Class Details:

Duration: 5 days: Monday - Friday

Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Available Weeks:

- June 17 - 21

- June 24 - 28

- July 8 - 12

- July 15 - 19

Registration Fee: $25

Violin Rental (if needed): $75

Classes are free, with a minimal registration fee. If you don't have your own violin, rentals are available for a

small fee.

enjoy a one-week introduction to violin basics and have fun.

Immerse yourself in the rich tradition of Polynesian drumming. This unique spring session is led by a professional Polynesian drumming expert, offering an authentic and immersive experience.

Registration deadline:  June 23, 2023

Santa Cecilia Orchestra invites youth to participate in the SCO Summer Music Conservatory Program. All workshops require an entry audition, which will be a video sent via email when application is submitted. Registration link below (registration closed).  

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please submit a video (may be taken with phone.) Video should not be longer than 3 minutes. Play what you feel your best recent piece is or excerpt from that piece.

The program is free and only requires a registration fee.

String players (violin, viola, cello, bass) will play some arrangements of well-known classical pieces, as well as some other fun and exciting works for strings. Additionally, players will join a chamber group to perform in at the evening concert at the end of the week. 

There are 2 levels.  

Beginning Strings: Recommended for string players with 1-2 years of lessons.

Intermediate Strings: Recommended for string musicians with 2-3+ years of private lessons.

Chamber Winds: Flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon learn chamber music repertoire appropriate for their level and instrumentation. They will combine in a chamber group for an evening concert at the end of the week. Recommended for experienced wind players with previous ensemble experience.

Chamber Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, and Tuba learn chamber music repertoire appropriate for their level and instrumentation. They will combine in a chamber group for an evening concert at the end of the week. Recommended for experienced brass players with previous ensemble experience.
